Blueberry Lavender Lemonade

Lately it has been really really hot.  And by really really hot I mean 100+ degrees hot.

If your house’s A/C is broken or you just don’t have one, you probably have been getting creative in finding different ways to stay cool during the summer heat.  But what better way to cool down than a nice glass of iced cold lemonade?

I’m not just talking about your plain glass of lemonade either.  I’m talking about going all out in making this one of the fanciest lemonades at the party.

We’re making blueberry lavender lemonade baby!

This recipe is a delicious way to make sure you feel refreshed and cool during this summer time heat.  But don’t forget to also drink lots of water!  Stay hydrated my friends.

4 cups water
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup lemon juice

Blueberry-Lavender Syrup
2 cups water
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon dried lavender**
1 cup blueberries

To prep, wash blueberries and squeeze lemons.  Start with blueberry lavender syrup.  Add water in saucepan and bring to simmer.  Add dried lavender leaves.  Cover with lid.  Let simmer on heat for 1-2 minutes.  Then, remove from heat and let sit for at least half hour.  Take lavender out of pan and turn on heat.  Add blueberries and sugar.  Stir till all of sugar is dissolved.  Keep on heat until blueberries burst and you get that beautiful color leaking out.

Move on to lemonade.  Boil some water, about 1 cup, and mix it with honey to dissolve.  Add rest of water and lemon juice.

Put the blueberry-lavender syrup and lemonade in refrigerator to cool down.

To serve, add ice in your cup, fill 3/4 of your cup with lemonade, and fill the rest of your cup with syrup.  Feel free to adjust the serving sizes to your liking – add more lemonade if you like your drink sour or add more syrup if you like your drink sweet!  Make sure to mix it all together and sip away!

** Note: Make sure you use culinary grade lavender.

Yours Truly,

Sally Hyroad
